Hailing from Appalachia, Tiffany Lindsey is an artist currently based in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Her practice draws from Southern material culture, abstraction, and the feminist art tradition of Femmage. Her recent work centers on large-scale compositions that combine acrylic paint with repurposed textiles sourced from close friends and family members, and secondhand exchange. Working with fabrics like lace, linen, and doilies carrying decorative histories and ancesteral connection, Tiffany considers this their revival, breathing new life into static relics. Through the use of inherited, shared, and found textiles, her practice examines themes of Southern identity, memory, domestic labor, kinship, and the emotional weight materials can hold. Grounded in the visual language of Femmage, Tiffany's work considers textiles as both formal elements and vessels of lived experience, exploring how personal and communal histories become embedded within objects and surfaces.
